Been rocking this guy for many months now and I would say you really need a high-end cooler on this one, it does run hot and as we know the clock spikes so as the temp boosting for a single core. I would recommend a high-end AIO and air cooler, preferably a 360 AIO and those ginormous air coolers. It does the job well but just needed a very good cooling solutions.

I bought this Ryzen 5900X to replace my 1700X, and installed it in my Asus Crosshair VI Hero motherboard. A very nice upgrade at a great price, and at the time, a free game too. Thanks AMD for giving us this upgrade path for us early adopters.

Had a great chat with one if the sales reps and he was super knowledgeable about the CPUs I was looking to buy. He helped me narrow down to this one, and it’s been amazing! Saved me a bit of money too! Thanks very much.

Looking for the best bang for your buck? Look no further. This processor is a beast and this is a great time to buy it. At the current price, this one will not disappoint. I have it running on a 470X ROG Crosshair without any difficulties.

I came from a 5600x which was starting to lag depending on the task. It was at about 22% usage at idle, now with the 5900x it's at about 4%. Does run hotter but with a good cooler, shouldn't be an issue. Great cpu with a proper reputation

Blazing, in all sense of the word

Reviewed by: Kaden
This thing rips through Physics simulations in Blender like no mans business, things like Adobe Premiere renders and Photoshop work is so fast and seamless I feel like an employee at NASA.
This thing gets hot. I mean of course it does, it has 24 threads. I only have a 240mm AIO. To say I underestimated this thing is the understatement of the week. It was able to cook my egg mcmuffin when broke my microwave though so i guess it's not all bad.
AMD _ Incel any day.

An alternative to Intel

Reviewed by: Louieggy
Works extremely well and paired with a good motherboard and cooler you can tweak Precision Boost Overdrive and get outstanding performance. Oh and I forgot the chip is affordable. You get 12C and 24T right out of the box with no frills.
There are some kinks with USB support and you will need to update your BIOS if you are using an older board.
The product should be good enough for current-gen gaming and may and will last you for the foreseeable future. It's power-efficient however you will do a disservice to the chip if you pair it with a non-500 series motherboard. To extract the most performance out of it use a B550 or X570 motherboard.

Enabling PBO and DOCP works wonders with this chip and I daresay the upgrade from an FX 8320/ R7 1700 to this is well worth the jump.

Cool running, yet fast CPU

Reviewed by: Eric
The Ryzen 9 – 5900x here, actually runs cooler than the Ryzen 7 – 5800x. Reason being, the 5900x has twice as many Chiplets than the 5800x. Therefore, the 5900x has only 6 cores per Chiplet compared to the 5800x, that has all 8 cores squeezed on one Chiplet. The end result being there is more space to dissipate heat across 2 Chiplets on the 5900x, drawing much less power and running much cooler. Make sure to pair this CPU or any 3rd gen ZEN (3xxx or 5xxx series) with a 570 Chipset. Reason being, the x570 chipset is the only chipset that also provides PCI-E 4.0 (16) additional lanes as well, for a total of 36 PCI-E 4.0 lanes. The B550 will still support the CPU’s (20) PCI-E 4.0 Lanes to the Video card slot and another PCI-E Interface. But all the other PCI-E lanes (only 10) on the motherboard will only be PCI-E 3.0. You will still have to purchase a Heatsink/Fan for your CPU though as the Ryzen 9’s come without one.
No Heatsink, but you do get your choice of Air or Water cooling.
Much cooler than the 5800x on the same motherboard with same Heatsink assembly and Artic MX-4 compound.

Cooled with a Hyper 212 EVO V2 with a second 120 mm fan keeps the CPU around 40°C idle.

OH MY GOD THIS THING IS A FREAKING BEAST

Reviewed by: Matthew
i had a Ryzen 7 2700 x previously, would average 80-110 fps in guild wars 2 on low settings, 20 in heavy combat scenarios, swapped it for this thing,,, ON HIGH SETTINGS i get 200 fps average up to 285 fps, with heavy combat scenarios seeing 50 fps, THIS THING OBLITERATES GAMING and GW2 is incredibly poorly optomised yet it still gets these great results... do yourself a favor... pick one of these up, the only con it has is it needs a beefy power supply and good cooler, but a corsair h100 series cooler should be more than enough from what ive seen if i could rate this thinjg 10 stars i would
as i said the only weaknesses ive seen thus far, are high power draw and heat,,, make sure you get a good cooler and a good power supply,, dont cheap out
10/5 definitly get this if you're planning on upgrading.. yes its pricy.. buy dear god its worth the jump
