*Driver Installation

- When you plug the adapter into a USB 3.0 port of your computer for the first time, it will be detected as a storage device.

- The driver setup application is located in it.

- Double click and install the application. Once the Windows has finished the installation, restart your computer.

- After restarting the computer, connect a HDMI cable to the adapter from your monitor.

- Windows will automatically detect and activate the display.

- Select "extend mode" in your computer Display settings if you want to work with multi monitors. (One connects to your computer video card output, one connects to the USB 3.0 port.)

- Please note that only the USB 3.0 port can support 1920x1200 output. USB 2.0 may only support 800x600 output.

I bought this adapter, (USB to HDMI!, to “hopefully” run a second, external monitor from my laptop.
The sales staffer was right up front with me, telling me that, (in their experience), this adapter didn’t work well. Guess what?,, it DIDN’T.
I was assured that I could return it and so I did.

This is perfect for extending your monitor. I was trying to find a decent adapter to add a third monitor to my setup. The manager on duty was happy to help me out and answer all my question. He brought me this and said it was super easy to setup. Aaaaaand it was. Took no time at all and works great.

Just bought this and it worked as designed.
I can use my second screen in the extend mode.
My laptop does not have extra HDMI port or a USB-C port that I can apparently be used for display purposes, so my USB 3.0 port was the only other option or apparently use a docking station, that I rather not purchase.

Works sometimes

Definitely works. Video quality is fine as long as it's 3.0 usb.

My screen turns off and on randomly. I sometimes have to turn the screen on and off to make it extend again. It's quite annoying since it resizes and moves all my windows to my other screen when it's off.

Get this if you're desperate, I may have a defective item but it works and it's cheaper than other options I could find. I would not recommend this for gaming at all. There is a some mouse lag.

Special thanks to Canada Computers staff, who are always knowledgeable and helpful! This product is simple to use on Windows 10. It automatically displayed what drivers were needed for Windows and/or Mac. I have two extra monitors for my laptop and learned that a HDMI splitter does NOT extend the view. Therefore I bought this adapter to extend the view of my second monitor and it worked flawlessly. Solid plastic construction.
